The Aces – Debüt EP “I Don´t Like Being Honest“, des All Girl Quartetts

To Watch in 2017” benannt (NPR, Paper Mag, Idolator, All Things Go, Euphoria. Magazine etc).

BUNNY – „Face Your Own“: Neues Video / Neues Album am 18.08.

Toronto band Bunny are releasing their self-titled debut album, a shaggy, gently psychedelic collection of ’70s-inspired studio-pop, later this summer. And today, they’re sharing „Face Your Own,“ an infectious jam that culminates with a smooth saxophone solo. This is how the band themselves describe it:

Like a sea cruise where you argue the whole time with your significant other. Sea sickness and bad vibes. But hold on! There’s a shrimp buffet tonight! There’s still hope! A few good folks offered their input and time on this track: Jay Hay (Interstellar Orchestra) on the killer sax, Adam Hindle (Born Ruffians) on percussion, Matt McLaren (Biblical, Steamboat) on the surefooted bass and manly scent. Inspired by a program heard on CBC radio.

It comes along with an animated music video that takes the “face” part of the title literally, with different brightly colored faces morphing into each other while lip-syncing the song.

Nashville, TN — For the first time in four years the acclaimed and beloved band Deer Tick announce the September 15 release of a long-awaited new album…actually, two. Never a group to stand by conventional protocol, the celebrated Providence, RI quartet will release two separate albums of original material, Deer Tick Vol. 1 and Deer Tick Vol. 2 (Partisan Records), recorded at Ardent Studios in Memphis, TN. The two albums complement each other yet reflect completely contrasting styles, both of which accurately represent the two distinctive musical personalities of Deer Tick — quiet and thoughtful / loud and raucous. Listen to the beautiful “Sea Of Clouds” from Vol. 1 ( and the garage punk-infused “It’s a Whale” from Vol. 2 (

Deer Tick Vol. 1 showcases the folk-driven, roots/rock style with the right amount of grit, that Deer Tick is known for. Lead singer/songwriter John McCauley is a masterful, introspective and observational songwriter, who documents inner struggles and external conflicts with a perfect balance of heartfelt sincerity and wry wit. The opening track „Sea of Clouds“ encompasses all of what brought so many fans to Deer Tick in the first place, and also what kept them there. Guitarist Ian O’Neil’s “Hope is Big” and drummer Dennis Ryan’s “Me & My Man” expand on the group’s already dynamic range.

On Deer Tick Vol. 2, the band turns it up and lets it fly with an injection of punk-inspired garage rock at its finest. Clever lyrics, infectious hooks and captivating melodies pack Vol. 2 with bassist Christopher Ryan skillfully laying it down with authority and attitude. The propulsion of opener “Don’t Hurt”, edgy pop of “Jumpstarting” and rowdy punk of “It’s a Whale” reveal that there was an obvious Jekyll & Hyde approach to recording Vol. 1 & Vol. 2. Vol. 2 closes with the boisterous “Mr. Nothing Gets Worse”, with all three singers taking a verse on a song that would have made The Replacements proud.

Deer Tick defines the term outlier. Their ever-evolving style has never been claimed by any one scene or genre. They encompass key elements of indie-rock, country, punk, pop, Americana, folk and so much more, which is what makes it difficult to nail them down. With Deer Tick Vol. 1 and Deer Tick Vol. 2, the question really is, why would anyone want to?

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA – „Worldwide“: Neues Musikvideo / Auf Tour in Deutschland!

This ‚Worldwide‘ video has been many months in the making. The video was directed by Casey Pierce, his third for our band. We think very highly of Casey and how he can execute what he and I come up with for a treatment. The chorus feels very modern, which is one of the primary principles we wanted in the video. How far Casey has come along is most evident; it’s hard to believe that the world he created all came from his own hands.“

27.06.2017 – Wien (A), Chelsea
01.07.2017 – Münster, Vainstream Rockfest
02.07.2017 – Wiesbaden, Schlachthof
03.07.2017 – München, Backstage
04.07.2017 – Stuttgart, Juha West

THE DREAM SYNDICATE – „How Did I Find Myself Here?“: Neues Album a. 8. September auf ANTI-!

On September 8, seminal indie rock band The Dream Syndicate will release their fifth studio album, How Did I Find Myself Here? The band’s first album since 1988, How Did I Find Myself Here? also marks their debut for ANTI- Records.

Today, the Dream Syndicate shares the first single and title track from How Did I Find Myself Here? With its heavy grooves, hypnotic guitar work, and gorgeously fractured textures, the 11-minute-plus piece of sprawling psych-rock feels both classic and forward-pushing.

Listen to „How Did I Find Myself Here“

Formed in Los Angeles in 1981, the Dream Syndicate was founded by current members Steve Wynn (guitar, vocals) and Dennis Duck (drums), along with Karl Precoda (guitar) and Kendra Smith (bass). With its widely celebrated 1982 debut The Days of Wine and Roses, the band soon emerged at the forefront of the 1980s college-rock scene.

Following the release of three more albums (1984’s Medicine Show, 1986’s Out of the Grey, and 1988’s Ghost Stories), the Dream Syndicate split up indefinitely—then reunited for a Spanish music festival in 2012. With its lineup now including guitarist Jason Victor, the band has since played over 50 shows and toured throughout the U.S. and Europe. In 2016, they headed into the studio and began working on their first album in nearly 30 years.

“[The magic] was there with almost as much ease and grace as the first rehearsal we had three years before in Madrid, despite [longtime bassist] Mark Walton, Dennis Duck and I having not played together for several decades,” says Wynn of the making of How Did I Find Myself Here? “It sounds like everything that I loved about the Dream Syndicate and yet sounds unlike any other record we made.”

Over the years, the Dream Syndicate has proven to be a massively influential force in the world of alternative rock, with artists like Kurt Cobain listing the band among their inspirations. As Wynn points out, the band itself was greatly influenced by underground pioneers like the Fall, the Gun Club, Neu!, and Big Star.

“I always felt that the Dream Syndicate was largely about receiving, carrying and then passing along a torch of the bands that we loved passionately but who didn’t necessarily get the love and attention they deserved, living in the shadows as cult favorites, secret passwords into a society of musical fanaticism and time-delayed impact on generations to come,” he says.

Here, several of the Dream Syndicate’s most notable admirers continue that tradition and discuss their favorite tracks from the band:

“It’s been one of the great pleasures of my life to play ‘Tell Me When It’s Over’ with Steve over the last few years. The Dream Syndicate version is a perfect distillation of Los Angeles noir and febrile, menacing garage rock.” – Peter Buck, R.E.M.

“‘Halloween’ is an eerie number. When the second guitar kicks in I think of a stage covered with fog, Karl stepping to the front of the stage and unashamedly striking a rock pose. It helped me feel alright about playing leads which were so hated at the time. Steve’s more jangly sound also influenced my choice of getting a Fender for my first guitar to start Dinosaur. I wanted to write some songs, strum, then kick in to some fuzz for the lead. It was all there in the Dream Syndicate.” – J Mascis, Dinosaur Jr.

“The Days of Wine and Roses was my introduction to the Dream Syndicate, and the very beginning of my love affair with the band and their music. My discovery coincided with the writing/recording of our second album, and our song ‘The Nights of Wine and Roses’ was inspired by (and named in homage of) theirs. While I like the album version, I LOVE the version from Live At Raji’s, which is not only my favourite Dream Syndicate album, but one of my favourite live albums of all time.” – Brian King, Japandroids

This fall, the Dream Syndicate will tour throughout Europe in support of How Did I Find Myself Here?

OFFA REX – „The Old Churchyard“: Neuer Song vom kommenden Album „The Queen of Hearts“ (Nonesuch)

Offa Rex, the new project from English singer-songwriter multiinstrumentalist Olivia Chaney and The Decemberists, has shared its take on „The Old Churchyard“ from its debut album, The Queen of Hearts, due July 14 on Nonesuch Records. You can watch a studio performance video of the track, which premiered on Lenny this morning, below.

The album is „a love letter to British folk music and an experiment in bridging musical sensibilities and finding common ground in the shared histories recounted in these classic songs,“ writes Lenny’s Laia Garcia in an interview with Olivia Chaney premiering the new video. „The record is an excellent introduction to the genre, with Olivia and Colin Meloy, the Decemberists‘ lead singer and guitarist, selecting and arranging songs that capture the spirit of the originals while putting their own modern spin on them.“ You can read what Chaney has to say at

„The Old Churchyard“ is available to download now with pre-orders of The Queen of Hearts on iTunes and the Nonesuch Store, along with the previously released title track and „Blackleg Miner,“ which you can hear at Nonesuch Store pre-orders also include an exclusive print.

Produced and recorded by Tucker Martine (Modest Mouse, My Morning Jacket, Neko Case) and Colin Meloy at Martine’s studio in Portland, OR, The Queen of Hearts draws largely on traditional English-Irish-Scottish repertoire to create a transatlantic musical conversation that flirts with psychedelia and folk rock while maintaining its own inimitable identity.

Offa Rex will tour this summer, including performances at the Newport Folk Festival, Town Hall in New York, and at The Aladdin in Portland. They will also be performing at Travelers‘ Rest, The Decemberists‘ two-day curated festival in Missoula, MT, on August 12. Additionally, Olivia Chaney will support The Decemberists during their August tour, during which she will join the band on stage to perform songs from The Queen of Hearts. Chaney will also do a few solo shows around these dates. Complete list of shows are below.
